Cottonwood Ranch

A Ranch Built on Hard Work.

Our History

The Cottonwood Ranch is a historic, family-owned cattle ranch that has been under the stewardship of the Dayton family for 114 years. Over that time, this land has worn many hats — beef cow operation, dairy farm, alfalfa fields, horse ranch — and today it continues as a working ranch, home to beef cattle, horses, and a thriving alfalfa farm.

This ranch has been handed down from parent to child across six generations, with no signs of stopping. It's true, the ranch has seen better years — economic shifts and extreme weather have taken their toll — but the rugged cowboy spirit still endures on the Cottonwood Ranch, and things are looking up. That authenticity is exactly what sets us apart from a fancy, expensive dude ranch. What you find here is the real thing.

Since the days of the Great Depression, the Cottonwood Ranch has welcomed those passing through, whether for work or for pleasure. For the past decade we've been opening our gates to travelers from all over the world, offering them a good place to rest, rides across the Bear River on horseback, and an honest look at what Wyoming really is.
